Congratulations! You’re already in the first stage of healing if you have acknowledged that you have a problem. The next step is to educate yourself about depression and try to find ways to battle it.

Depression can be tough. It’s almost as if you’re in a black tunnel with no light. Hope disappears and the things you used to find enjoyable become a chore. Therefore it is very important to start by making a few minor changes in your life to alleviate the symptoms of depression and then work your way up. So please do try and incorporate them into your daily routine:

1. Acknowledge the condition: To heal, it’s really important to first acknowledge the fact that you have a problem. Living in denial or ignoring the problem only makes your condition worse. In the process, I would also suggest you to educate yourself about depression.

Don’t Give Up: I understand how tough it must be for you to deal with it alone. But I can promise you one thing; the pain, suffering, misery, loneliness are all temporary. You can get out of depression and lead a normal and happy life that you have always been dreaming of. It may not be easy…But it is POSSIBLE. So don’t lose hope. Don’t give up. Fight back…. Why you ask? Because you’re strong and even you know that you CAN fight back!

Don’t isolate yourself: The most common behavior of people suffering from depression is that they tend to isolate themselves. They create a protective shell around them and live in it. DON’T do that. If you isolate yourself, you would end up feeling lonely after a while and you’ll have nothing but haunting thoughts in your head. You don’t want this to happen to you right? So get out of your shell…. Try to live life like a normal person.

Lead a healthy and active life: This is the most important change that you need to make right now in your life. You need to start eating on time and please make it a point to eat healthy. Junk food is quite tempting but it isn’t good for your body and mind.
Do keep yourself active. Do you love to swim, play cricket or football? If yes, then go for it. Even small things like going out for a walk in the park will go a long way in healing you. Also, get adequate sleep. Give your mind and body some rest.
