You can either own your anger or let it own you. Allowing your anger to be in charge has dire consequences. This when people make important decisions when angry. These decisions, more times than not, tend to be counterproductive. Those who can maintain control even though they are angry know that it is better to delay important decisions if possible so as to think with a clear head. If they are not able to delay the decision, they are smart enough to consult others not affected in order to make sure that their decision is a sound one.

Not by trying to repress it or control it .. .BUT by learning to open to the underlying pain and helplessness that is the TRUE trigger for our anger .. and then relaxing into that pain, feeling compassion for the presence of our pain, and accepting that sometimes we DO experience pain and there is nothing we can do about it. And the more we relax into our pain the less it hurts. Just think about little kids getting a flu shot, how they cry and struggle with the pain … but adults just relax and don’t even blink an eye. Most pain is self-created and resistance TO discomfort is one of the biggest influences on how much pain we feel.
